Andrew Moor Associates completed the installation of this public artwork for the new Central London hotel, designed by Dexter Moren Architects, in December 2012.
The work is housed where the cars and taxies drive through, unloading passengers at the front entranceway. The glass artwork is a series ofl blue jewelled ‘windows’ set into the plain slate wall. There are a forty of these fibre-optically lit framed apertures, each housing a separate piece of fused blue and white glass. The glass itself is textured with transparent crystal bubbles fused into the surface of the glass, as well as swirling dark caligraphic brush strokes that weave upwards through the glass.
